Hold Ctrl while clicking a unit will also select all of that unit type

F10 is main menu, F11 Allies/trading menu, F12 is the Chat Log, and F9 for Quests
Alt + Left Click will send a map ping, or signal, to your ally’s on their map radar
Make sure to have enabled “Always show health bars” in the games menu options. Alt and Ctrl do some other things too, like the Mini-Map Toggles. The icons next to the mini-map can turn on/off map displays for creeps and other things.
Rally Points and Way points allow you to Queue multiple commands or actions to your units. Hold Shift to give units multiple orders in a row. Flags show up representing each of the actions that you told them to make. Always use Shift with workers so they return to harvesting after they finish building. You can even use shift when rallying new units so they don’t get caught by creeps.
Unit Formation (Alt+F) will affect the way your units move. Units in formation move slower but will align themselves with melee always in the front and ranged units in the back. Units that are out of formation will move faster but, they will scatter around and require more attention to make sure your army doesn’t get caught out of position or flanked. It’s tough, but most of the time you want faster moving units.
Formation Movement Toggle will change your formation by holding Alt and issuing any command (Move, Attack, etc.) I recommend disabling this in the options.
Subgroup Order Modifier enable in the options, for giving commands to select units within a group when “Tabbing” through units in a group of mixed unit types.
Action/Command Hotkeys (customizable) – There are 5 basic actions; Attack, Patrol, Move, Stop, and Hold Position, plus any additional spells or abilities. Basic letter hotkeys can be customized to your preference using the CustomKeys.txt file, and in the game options you can Enable/Disable them in case you want to return them to default. Most common is QWER ASDF ZXCV so everything is aligned to the left.
Inventory hotkeys are used for the items that your hero’s pick up. They are designated to the Numpad. These can only be changed with a tool or mod. Some people think that is cheating, but it’s not. Aligning everything to the left is how the game should have always been. Plus customizing hotkeys was always allowed since the games release, they just didn’t program the inventory keys to be changed for some reason. Anytime you see somebody using potions and staffs really quickly, chances are they are using custom key changer. The nice thing about it is you can also disable Alt Q or the Windows Key while playing with it.
You can find my custom hotkey setups under the download section of the Goblin Merchant (on the main page of the forums)
Or you could also get a multi-button mouse, for that extra bit of control. Many people use these too. Like this: On Amazon
